Caylee Sprague Story:
A Navy Nuclear Trained Electricians Mate, Second Class Petty Officer (E-5) with over 6 years of experience in the areas of aircraft carrier electrical distribution and casualty control operations. A fully qualified load dispatcher on board USS George W.H. Bush (CVN-77) home ported out of Norfolk, VA. She supervised and directed a team of six technicians safely and continuously to provide reliable sources of electrical power to the ships 4160V, 72 Megawatt, 12-generator electrical distribution system. She also oversaw and performed the paralleling of switching operations onboard a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier with proprietary software analogous to SCADA in support of mission critical transmission operations as well as regulating voltage and frequency for turbine and diesel generators to maintain operational specifications.
Her journey with Power4Vets first started when she was introduced to the program by one of her Navy peers who also completed the program and she decided to enroll into the program in July 2019. She completed all of the Power System Operation courses by January 2020 and successfully passed the NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification exam in February 2020. Caylee currently works for Tri-State in Colorado as a System Operator Trainee. We want to congratulate Caylee for trusting and believing in the program and pursuing her goal to achieve NERC Certification and landing a great career job in the utility industry with Tri-State.
“Words from Caylee”
I completely attribute my smooth transition from the Navy into civilian power distribution to this program. Right from the beginning it offered so many benefits aside from the easy to follow curriculum toward obtaining my NERC. The preparatory program itself offered all the necessary information to pass my exam on the first attempt as well as simulations to really apply the knowledge in a more visual way. Upon enrollment I was incredibly impressed with the quality of study materials, but it was taken to another level of veteran support with the job search guidance. Thanks to the tireless efforts of David Miranda assisting in updating my resume, giving me advice on the proper approach to networking, and providing me with multiple resources, including practice interview questions and salary negotiation guidance, I was hired for my dream job and the first position I applied for. I highly recommend Power4Vets to any transitioning military or veterans who are interested in the industry!
