Danny Wilson Story:
A Navy Trained Electricians Mate, Chief Petty Officer (E-7) serving onboard a number of surface ships and shore commands with over 20 years of experience in the areas of power plant electrical distribution and casualty control operations. He served in a variety of power plant duties and responsibilities such as Ships Calibration Coordinator, Electrical Division Primary Maintenance Planner, and Electrical Division Trainer Coordinator. More importantly he qualified in a variety of power plant watch standing duties such as Electrical Technician, Engineering Plant Technician, Switchboard Operator and also the highest engineering qualification as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EEOW) where he was responsible for ensuring the reliable electrical distribution to the entire ship.
His journey with the Power4Vets program started when he was referred to us by one of his Navy Co-Workers. Danny enrolled into the Power4Vets program with a goal to become NERC Certified and land a job in the industry before he retired from the Navy (20 years) in October 2021. He made the call to Power4Vets, submitted his application and his quest for achieving his goal started in August 2020 and graduated from the Power System Operation’s Courses (PSOC) in January 2021. He then continued his NERC exam studies and passed the NERC Reliability Coordinator exam in May 2021. Our Human Resource Placement team kicked the job searching process into high gear and working together our team facilitated the process with Danny to help him land his dream job with Entergy in Texas as a System Operator prior to his retirement date.
Congratulations, to Danny Wilson for believing in the Power4Vets program, staying focused on his goals and we are super proud of your success!
Words from Danny Wilson:
If there is a better NERC training program out there, I haven’t heard of it! From the start David reached out to me, he made sure I had everything I needed to be successful. He and his team made sure to give me all the resources to make me a fully competent operator even sacrificing his own time off time and answering late calls and texts. The program itself was very easy to follow and informative with great information on the civilian power industry. From the simulator to the study tools and personal one on one insight with actual Electrical Engineer Dr. Podmore, I feel like I couldn’t have chosen a better path for my transition from the military. After getting my NERC Certification, David went into overdrive getting my resume ready and making connections in the industry to land me a very rewarding job. I’m so thankful for him and his team for all they did to make my transition from the Navy to becoming a NERC Certified Operator. FIVE STARS ACROSS THE BOARD.
