Kevin Castillo Story:
A Navy Nuclear Trained Electricians Mate, Chief Petty Officer (E-7) with over 20 years of experience in the areas of nuclear submarine electrical distribution and casualty control operations. As an electrical division worker, supervisor and trainer he spent over 20 years of maintaining, repairing, training subordinates on and using electrical equipment including equipment for distribution and storage of electrical power aboard four different submarines. He has 
directed a team of 15 professionals managing the operations of a naval submarine reactor; Operated a wide range of useful tools to test and maintain equipment, including megometers and thermal imagers; Investigated and corrected problems with electrical and mechanical components; Logged and filed classified documents; Oversaw issues of team members, equipment and training as a leader of a supervisory command unit with over 180 enlisted personnel; Reduced process gaps by effectively managing employees while training staff on best practices and protocols to optimize productivity; and spearheaded training program for employees to ensure combat and non-combat situational performance was maintained at all times.
His journey with the Power4Vets program started when he was referred to us by one of our prior students who also served in the Navy and was successful in obtaining their certification and landing a job in the industry. Kevin enrolled into the Power4Vets program in December 2018 and graduated from the Power System Operation Courses (PSOC) in January 2019 and then passed the NERC Reliability Certification exam in May 2019 and then landed a job with Portland General Electric in Portland, Oregon, as a Balancing Authority Specialist.
