Stephen Flebotte story:
A Navy Nuclear Trained Machinist Mate, First Class Petty Officer (E-6) with over 10 years of experience in the areas of power plant operations and maintenance. During his 10 years in the Navy he qualified on three separate platforms demonstrating the ability to adapt to change and willingness to succeed in all facets of nuclear aircraft power plant operations. As Work Center Supervisor, Lock-Out/Tagout Administrator he coordinated maintenance from scheduling to completion on highly complex, turbines, electrical generators, distilling units, and auxiliary equipment. Effectively utilized 45 personnel to successfully complete over 2500 preventative maintenance items. He also implemented a new maintenance program with meticulous attention to detail resulting in zero discrepancies through the proceeding audits and reviewed and approved over 500 Lock-Out/Tagout line items ensuring proper isolations for personnel and equipment safety utilizing electrical and mechanical schematics.
He was also stationed at the Naval Power Training Unit in Ballston, Spa as Nuclear Operations Instructor, Reactor Safety Systems Supervisor, and Lead Mechanical Technician where he effectively led an eight-person division in ensuring safe nuclear operations, maintenance, and training on critical reactor plant safety systems. Ensured the successful initial certification of over 700 nuclear plant operators. He also supervised inspections and retests of emergency diesel generator, 4160v breakers, and battery maintenance while observing electrical safety requirements as designated by technical manuals.
His journey with our program started when he spoke with some coworkers, and also with some previous Power4Vet graduates about the program, and he was then convinced that this was the right career track for him so he decided to enroll into the program in April 2018 and graduated from the Power System Operations Courses (PSOC) in August 2018 and then passed his NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification test with flying colors. He now works for First Energy in Akron, Ohio as an Associate System Operator.
Congratulations, to Stephen Flebotte for believing in the Power4Vets program and we are proud of your success!
